Became the tenth man to step onto the surface of the moon 0n April 21, 1972 upon Apollo 16. During the final EVA, Duke left a personal memento on the moon. He dropped a photo of himself and his family sealed in a plastic bag on the lunar surface and took a photo of it before leaving for the last time.
